Privacy Policy
Last updated: 6 November 2026
1. About this policy
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data nMinusK collects, why, and the choices you have. We handle personal data in line with the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), as applicable.
2. What we collect
- Account data: your chosen username and a password, which we store only in hashed (scrambled) form. We never store your password in plain text.
- Practice data: questions you star or mark revised, practice settings, and questions already served in daily practice.
- Device data kept in your browser: streak days, exam reminders and similar preferences, stored in your browser's local storage.
- Technical data: basic server logs such as IP address, browser type and time of request, used for security and troubleshooting.
- Messages: anything you send us by email.
We do not ask for your phone number, address or payment details at present. If we add paid plans, this policy will be updated first.
3. Why we use it
- To create and secure your account and keep you logged in.
- To save your progress and sync it across your devices.
- To run, maintain, secure and improve the site.
- To reply to your messages and enforce our Terms.
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
4. Cookies and local storage
We use one essential session cookie to keep you logged in (it is HttpOnly and expires after 30 days) and local storage to remember your progress and preferences. These are strictly necessary for the features you use, so we do not show a cookie consent banner. You can clear them in your browser settings, but you may then be logged out and lose on-device progress.
5. Third-party services
Pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means Google may receive your IP address. Links to YouTube take you to a service operated by Google, which has its own privacy policy. We do not control those services.
6. Sharing
We share personal data only with hosting and infrastructure providers who run the site for us, or when required by law or a lawful order. We do not share it for marketing.
7. Retention and security
We keep account and progress data while your account is active and delete it within a reasonable time after you ask us to. We use reasonable safeguards, including hashed passwords and HTTPS. No online system is completely secure, so please choose a strong, unique password.
8. Your rights
Under the DPDP Act you may ask to access your personal data, correct it, erase it, and nominate someone to exercise these rights for you. You may also withdraw consent at any time. Write to nminusk@gmail.com and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are unhappy with our response, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India once it is operational.
9. Children
nMinusK is meant for users aged 18 and above. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must consent to your use of the site. If we learn that we hold a child's data without such consent, we will delete it.
10. Changes
We may update this policy, and the date above will change when we do. For privacy questions or grievances, contact nminusk@gmail.com.
